I adopted some resolutions, or, as we may say, some habits, at the beginning of 2022. Here are some of them with my terrible successes and abject failures.
Engaged with Habits instead of goals - Since we lose desire after achieving goals, Achieving a goal can only change our life for a moment. So I made an effort to participate in the process and system without setting any goals.
Reading Books - In 2022, I gained a lot of wisdom by reading self-help books. I was only able to finish 5 books this year. Yes, I am a slow reader, but as I already mentioned, I became so engrossed in reading that I forgot of how many I needed to read.
Be mindful with money - Books like Psychology of Money helped me so much in this one. In order to be in this process, I am living like a frugal who spends on experiences instead of materialistic things. I started investing, saving aggressively, tracking my spending, using credit cards to build a healthy score, got health insurance, and much more. Anyone can become rich but only few can be mindful with money.
Use Technology for Automation -It is a huge time waster if a technology can accomplish what you need it to do but you still need your head. In 2022, I used a variety of tools and apps to manage my tasks and activities, including Google calendar and weekly to-do list maintenance. Even this journal is also written with the help of AI.
However, I didn't wait until the 1st January of 2022 to start working on these topics; instead, I first began doing so in December 2020.
Moreover, I failed in some of these.
Be Healthy and Calm - In High School, I used to do Yoga and go for morning run, but with getting a job and becoming an adult, we lost that pump in our fast-paced lives. I made this resolution because of this, but I failed so terribly that I never stepped foot in a gym and got so much health trouble in a year. Nevertheless, made a little progress, but not much, in the area of calmness.
Socialize with people - I discovered that I am an extroverted introvert. I'm not sure if this is a real thing, but to me it implies that I can talk to people I know all day long but can't communicate with strangers. Additionally, the friendships with pals didn't work out well, and no new ones were formed. Despite making some virtual pals, but I don't believe that counts as socializing.
Focus on upskilling - I did make some in this, but it was simply a minor job upgrade. I didn't improve my skill set in any significant sense. Tried new software, genre and things but didn’t made to an extend.
Building a routine -Building a routine is easy, but maintaining one is, in my experience, a challenging effort. As I scrutinize, Procrastination is the evil that is at play in this situation.
I didn’t succeed in these but I’ll reflect on my mistakes and fight harder in 2023 with some fresh resolutions or as we may say some fresh habits.
Thanks for Reading and Happy New Year 🎇
